Christmas Recap (TV Guide version)

I had heard about a place in Calera, Alabama that is called Santa's Fantasy Land and thought it would be fun to ride out there and have a look see. It was a lot cuter than I expected considering there where no paved roads for about three miles before we got there and I was beginning to hear banjo music. Santa was present and jolly of course. There was lots to walk through and see. If you don't like odd looking dolls don't bother going (FYI)! My little chicks thought we where for sure at the North Pole which was awesome.

This one display caught my eye quite quickly! only in Alabama folks!!! Only in Alabama.

Our first actual Cmas celebration of 2010 was with The Fields clan on Dec. 18th. This also marked a big day in our Daddy Do's life. He turned 30!!!!

Both girls where super excited about the gifts that they received. Kadence got a princess castle for her ZuhZuh pets, which are fantastic! All of the perks of having a little pet but none of the mess and feed. They are a little creepy when they run across the kitchen floor and you just get a glance out of the corner of your eye (yes, my counter has now been tested for proper weight capacity). Addison got a gift that I thought would be a fly by night fancy. You know, something your child begs for, touches once and then it collects dust before making it's way to the Hannah Home box! Well it was a guitar......not a "BABY PLAY GUITAR" the real deal strings and all, just pint sized. She has played that thing at least twice a day minimum since she opened it, I was impressed.

Pictured below with her BFF Tyrone ( AKA Jamey Sorgee)

Later that same day we enjoyed a get together with friends. We played games, opened gifts and snacked til our bellies almost burst!
Next came Christmas Eve and for some reason it brought out the attitudes in my two Divas? Don't be fooled by the sweet picture below. Right after the flash they where pinching and pulling hair. The thought of Santa passing us by didn't seem to phase them one bit. I blamed it on lack of sleep and the anticipation of things to come!

Around 3:30 we headed to the Brasher Family gathering for more good food. Addison gets sick EVERY time we go to Vandiver. She and I seem like one in the same. If I don't drive there, I would be terribly sick. She got over it with a few stops and felt better once we arrived. They got pretty princess dolls from Maw Maw Bull and loved them.

On to our next stop at around 7:00. This year the Wallis Cmas was held at my Aunt's house. It has always been at my Grandparents home but this year my grandfather came down with the Shingles and was very contagious. Poor thing! he is doing much better now and we all had a great time.

My cousin Tabitha reading to Addison.
Gangsta Rudolph : enjoying his Dirty Santa Gag

We scrambled home around 9:00 and immediately checked the NORAD for Santa's whereabouts. We had been tracking him all day and he was getting close to Atlanta, GA. So we got our cookies and choc choc placed. A to go sack was filled with carrots for the reindeer and we shuffled to bed asap.

Much to our surprise, considering the previous day's interesting behavior, Santa came! He brought so many things it was hard to choose what to play with first. There was a dollhouse that is taller than Mammie, tons of Barbie's to go with. Little Woodzees like I used to play with as a child, their houses and furniture. Baby Alive for each girl ( one all gone and one doctor baby ) and tons more items that I can not recall at the moment?
After each toy from Santa had been played with, we headed next door to Mammie and Paw Paw's for a WONDERFUL breakfast. Mammie is the best breakfast cook EVER and her kitchen is open every Sat. & Sun. morning beginning around 8. She loves a crowd....hint!

Of course the girls where again lavished with gifts. Clothes galore and two new shiny bikes. Although weather has prevented much of the outdoor play, we should soon be out there tearing up the turf.

Lunch on Cmas day was held at my Grandfather's (Davis) house on my Dad's side. We played Dirty Santa and enjoyed time with family that we don't get to see very much.

After that we had the rest of the day to relax, nap and enjoy the snow.

Dec. 26th marked last Cmas event for the 2010 season and it ended with a bang. The company was well needed and the gifts where great. All in all this was a Christmas to remember and I pray that there are many more!

See you all next year! The Fields......

Merry Christmas to everyone!

Sure do love those Christmas cookies.....sugar!

Just not scattered about on my counter. At least these little elves are smart. They pulled out the cookbook, blew the dust off of it and began their masterpiece. What's funny is that they didn't know that I was still awake, they were caught in the act and quickly turned back into their plushie counterparts. I fear the worst for the morning findings. Carry on little elves....I am really off to bed now!

Helpers not so helpful....

Last night I wrapped a few gifts that I had gotten from the Black Friday adventure. I must not have secured my supplies quite well. This morning when I got up and stumbled through the house I almost tripped over wrapping paper rolls.
Imagine my surprise when I found the elves with scissors, tape and paper. They had cut snowflakes out of paper and they where scattered all around. Jingles was tangled in the scotch tape and the roll was empty.
Miss Holiday had opened a package of gift tags and had tagged herself all over.

These helpers made a huge mess but we love them anyway. Hopefully tonight they will be settled in with us and we won't have such chaos!

We got visitors!

Last night our friend Hopie wrote a letter, for her elf Ollie, to give to Santa. It went something like this:

Dear Ollie,

Addison and Kadence want elves, boy or girl, it doesn't matter and elves are really cool so I wanted to see if you could talk to Santa about getting them each an elf. I have already talked to their mom about this and she thinks it's a wonderful idea. She wants them to have their own so when they carry them places they can each play and take their own elf. PLZ WRITE BACK!

Love Ya Hopie!

What a precious girl and a sweetheart! We love you Hopie!

So today we went to our last Tgiving meal for this year and when we got back GUESS WHO CAME? Two little girl elves that will visit us til Santa comes with his sleigh to take them home! They even brought decorated trees, from Santa's shop, for the girls to put in their rooms.

We read their story and named them. Addison's elf is Jingles and Kadence's elf is Miss Holiday. This evening we went over to Mammie and Paw Paw's and Santa had sent an elf to watch over them too. His name is Christopher. So Santa has all kinds of little spies around our home. While we were Mammie and Paw Paw's Addison realized that she had left Jingles at home all by herself and Kady had remembered to bring Miss Holiday along. So of course when we got home Jingles had pulled balls off of the tree, gotten snowmen out of their place and messed up Addison's clothes. I guess Jingles was trying to teach Addison a lesson about leaving her home alone. I can't wait to see what these two mischievous elves get into tonight?

So much to be thankful for...

The pics really have nothing to do with the post. Just some Tgiving fun with food!

This year I list the top 7 things that I am thankful for:
1) I am thankful to belong to God's family and have him in my life.
2) I am thankful for my beautiful girls. They are a blessing and more than I ever imagined.
3) I am thankful for my Mother and Father. Their lessons have taught me to be so much more than their child, it has taught me to be a good person, wife and parent. (For the most part...HAHA).
4)I am thankful for all of the friends in my past, present and future. You all have made an impact on my life lessons.
5) I am thankful for the loved ones that are still with me on earth and I am thankful for those that I have lost but will see again one day.
6) I am thankful for all the moments that seem so insignificant but yet impact me so greatly.
At last but most certainly not least.
7) For my husband: HE IS - true, loving, supportive and my partner in life.
I left this for #7 and chose 7 "thankfuls" because this year, actually on Monday of this week, we celebrated out 7 year anniversary. People say it is only downhill from here but I have a feeling that things are gonna be looking up from here.

Outdoor Decor

Little Kadence was MUCH better today. So we got some need outdoor time. I felt so cooped up yesterday. We decided that today would be a good day to put up some Christmas decorations. The girls had a lot of fun this year. I am not sure if it is their age but things seem to resonate more with them. It is so nice to be able to spend a majority of our time with my parents. They get to share all of the girl's experiences and reactions which is important to Bama and I.....so thankful for family!

Close to the potty camp out.

This is a picture of our make shift bedroom last night or i should say this morning. This was about 4am. Poor little thing, she is so pitiful. Now she has started running a high fever. hopefully I can keep it down long enough for whatever this is, to run it's course. I did get a lot of things done through the night (not sleep ). So we are both pretty pooped!

Daddy Do is off to the store for more supplies. Just a little moment on my soap box: why aren't there any store close by that are open 24 hours that carry sufficient sickness supplies......I went to Wmart, Walgreens and CVS last night around midnight. NONE of them where open. I had to settle for 2 Liter Sprite and some WAY overpriced Saltines at the Gas Station! What is up with that?

The Fields......

Early birds.

We put our Christmas tree up about a week ago but had some technical difficulties. All of our Christmas decorations remained at the old house due to the fact that we didn't have any storage when we moved. So our renters didn't need the extra building, so those items got left. Sadly most of our Christmas decorations got ruined. There must have been a community of critters who made their home in one of our trees and all of the plush items. The saddest part is that most of the items that got chunked where things that Bama and I got our first Christmas as a married couple. It was probably time for most of it to go but I tend to hold on to things that mean so much to me.

Daddy Do managed to get all of the lights working on the salvagable tree so that we would be ready for decorating. Tonight we had a "free night", which we hardly ever get. So I stopped in at HL and got a few items for the tree. I couldn't find everything that I had in mind which never happens to me at HL, I usually come out with more than I came for. My mind can't figure out what I want exactly to top the tree. It's kinda one of those "I'll know it when I see it" kinda things? I hope!

May I suggest the " Shatter Proof" ornaments to anyone with small children. They can be so independent while decorating and you have less worry of cut fingers and other extremities? Not all of the ornaments shown here are shatter proof but none where lost in the making of this 2010 spectacle.
We had dancing " Garland Fairies" and Cmas music frenzy. That video will come later...too funny!
Although the tree has not gotten it's final decorations and approval, it is looking much better!

What a spooktacular weekend!

I will have to say that this Halloween was the best that we have had with the girls. They have matured and grown so much within the last year. No major breakdowns or freakouts, super success! There is so much to tell about but I will try to keep it minimal.

Saturday: Some friends of ours go to Tannehill State Park for Halloween every year. I had heard about it on the radio and thought the kids would enjoy. Of course they did! There was so much to see and do, they where just beside themselves. People where dressed in some of the most articulate costumes and some not so appealing. We all forged on and reaped the sugar filled goodness as a reward.

Sunday: We headed home around 9:30 ish to get dressed up again for some door to door treats. Addison says "To trick or treat for real, you have to go up to a door and ring the doorknob." A few of our family members where glad to fulfill her request.
After a few stops our candy pales where filled to the brim and we headed back to Mammie and PawPaw's to sort through the spoils.

Now our bellies are full of chocky (chocolate), Mommy's feet are the size of her head and Daddy Do has a backache. We are so blessed!

Yes it is a

replica of a Budweiser Clydesdale. Addison didn't know that? We where on an adventure...junking is what we call it. She saw this guy from the road and protested that she MUST have a picture with it. Then we had to pry her away because she wanted to ride it. There was a sign that stated strictly No Climbing and a little old man leering from his window. He seemed to be waiting just to run out and scold someone!

Swinging....

We are loving the freedom of our new home and much larger yard. It is so nice to watch our kids play outside and run free like when I was a child. Don't get me wrong living in a neighborhood had it's own perks but I am a country girl at heart and have missed this scenery from my window for the past seven years.

I so excited to be doing a lot of our firsts this Holiday season. I am so ready to decorate this new house. Just hope it turns out as cute as I see it in my mind?

Beauty Shop

About two months ago, the little chick-a-dees decided that they could play beauty shop. Kadence's was not so bad but Addison ended up with a mullet. Most of her hair had to be chopped off in order to grow back somewhat evenly. Believe it or not these photos are recent and it is much longer here than when originally butchered. I cried, they cried! We must always keep scissors under lock and key! Mammie's famous statement rings true "Welcome to parenthood!"

On your mark....get ready....CARVE!

Today was a gorgeous day here in Tide country. We had been planning all week to do our annual family pumpkin carving today. Usually Daddy Do (Bama) does all of the carving and I am just there for photographic support and encouragement. Both of the littles where squeamish at the thought of plunging their hands into " pumpkin guts". I'm not pointing fingers at who decided to tell them that is what all the goo was called, but he is tall and has blue eyes with brown hair and is frequently called " Daddy Do". Probably, you are wondering why "Daddy Do" because for the longest both of my children where in the habit of answering any question of how? or who does? With the reply of "my Daddy Do!" So it stuck, whether he likes it or not, I've never asked.
Anyway, I'm sure that some are also perplexed at where we have been almost the entire year. Well that is easy, The Fields have been moving. The process began around March but this is for another post. Needless to say, I plan to be back in full effect. I miss this release!
So today Daddy Do convinced me to try a little carving on my own and I think I did a bang up job. The kids where happy so we were DEFINITELY HAPPY!

Mommy - Swiper
I think Daddy Do was a little mad that mine seemed to glow brighter?
